A few Sunday’s a go 7 town council staff and 4 staff, volunteers and trustees from The Pump House Project came together to do a first aid course. The Town Council and the Pump House Project are building up a successful partnership so it was great to be able to attend a course together.
The training was run by Malcolm Gee of MG Training and was extremely informative, we are delighted to say that all attendees passed and are now qualified in Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day course).
If you have an interest in first aid course we can highly recommend Malcolm Gee as a trainer. Why not get in touch with him to run a course for your work place or community group and of course if you need a venue don’t forget we have a variety available to hire to suit your needs.
Last Wednesday saw our first meeting of our new youth session ‘Young Activity Auditors’. This group of young people have come together to work on a project that will see them audit the activities that are available for themselves and other young people across the county with the eventual aim of creating a tangible product that will help other young people learn more about services for them.
We are also hopeful this will be the forerunner for a new Youth Council which will give our young people a further voice in our town
The young people came together to answer the question ‘what do you like most and least about Faringdon’ we also created a list of the skills we had within the group. We were lucky enough to be able to display these on a board with a wonderful sketch of Faringdon’s Folly that local artist Shelia Isabel Irigoyen did for us after we put out a request for help on local Facebook page ‘I live in the town of Faringdon’.
If you are a young person aged 13-20 and would like to get involved please get in touch with Rebekah Pugh (Youth and Community Officer) on 01367240281 or via email
Last Saturday during the Charity Market Councillor Wise , Councillor Leniec and our Youth and Community Officer Rebekah Pugh braved the cold to meet with members of the public to inform people of the Town meeting and consult with residents. It was great to see the town alive with so many residents and we received some great feedback. It was also fantastic that some of the residents we met came to the Town Meeting on the 18th January.
On the 20th February Councillor Finn and Councillor Famakin will be under the Old Town Hall between 10am and 12.30pm so do come and say hello.
In December instead of our staff ‘Secret Santa’ Town Council staff decided to each donate some gifts to create a hamper to take to residents at Ferendune Court and also to give to the Police to go to vulnerable members of our community. The Councillors also donated gifts and we between us we collected 2 large hampers and other gifts that were wrapped and given to the PCSOs for distribution.
On the 23rd of December Town Council Staff and Councillors went along to have a cup of tea and mince pies with residents at Ferendune Court. A lovely time was had by all and it was fantastic to meet such lovely members of our community.
