WHAT DOES Faringdon Town Council DO?
We have an overall responsibility for the well-being of the local community. Our work falls into three main categories:
Delivery of services
- Improving quality of life for residents
- Giving communities a democratic voice
BECOMING A LOCAL COUNCILLOR
As a local councillor you can become a voice for Faringdon and make a real change. Councillors are community leaders and represent the interests of the communities they serve.
Local councillors have four main responsibilities:
- Engaging with local residents
- Decision-making
- Monitoring
- Getting involved locally

The Oxfordshire Association of Local Councils are providing online hour sessions for anyone interested in becoming a councillor, letting them know what they are letting themselves in for! A short introduction and open question time.
Covering eligibility, skills, expectations and some basics about life as a councillor.
