We are delighted to announce the nominations for this year’s Community Awards 2024.

Community Hero Award
Elouise Hill – For the amazing work she does in helping the local community through ‘A helping Hand’. For caring so much about those in need, and going out of her way to source support and funds to care for families who are vulnerable and needing some extra help.
Rachel Williams -the choir leader of Faringdon Community Choir. Rachel has worked so hard over the last couple of years, leading both the afternoon and evening sessions on a Wednesday. The choir is a wonderful place to meet people and is totally inclusive of all abilities.
Annabelle Zinovieff – Annabelle is the cook for Open Kitchen – a twice monthly, affordable, nutritious and healthy, lunch for anyone in the community attend. Annabelle prepares the meals with such care, thought and love. “I heard someone say that they can taste the love.“
Group Award
Faringdon Games Club – Was set up with a vision of engaging the youth and families of Faringdon. It’s now run at the Corn Exchange every Sunday. “A great initiative, good fun for all ages.”
Faringdon Day Centre – Aimed at seniors in Faringdon, includes word games, singing, reminiscing sessions, quizzes and talks. “A great place to meet, have fun and be well treated and looked after.”
Faringdon Open Kitchen – Excellent community event. The volunteers are so lovely and kind. The food is delicious and is such a blessing to so many, especially the elderly. “May this group be honoured for all their hard work.”
Faringdon Community Bus – Run a weekday service taking the residents of Faringdon, particularly the elderly and disabled to Tesco, Aldi, Medical Centre and the Market Place from numerous stops around the town. This service is run by volunteers. They also run monthly afternoon trips to different locations giving access to services and sights outside Faringdon.
Business Award
Tribe Zero-Waste – This is a fantastic business, providing a fabulous service, enabling people in Faringdon to reduce waste in so many ways, thus contributing highly to education regarding waste and providing the ability to do so. “Commitment to reduction of use of plastic”
The Swan Pub – Frank and Sue work hard to engage with the community and provide a welcome, inclusive space with a variety of entertainment. “Helps bring the community together”
Market Café – Is always welcoming café in the heart of town. Runs craft sessions for both adults and children. “A very popular addition to the Market Place.”
Community Volunteer Award
Tessa Timms – for all her work for the Faringdon and District U3A. She has energised and expanded the activities of this group that caters for the over 60s.
Mark Coleman – Mark is a volunteer who does so much without any recognition. He is a volunteer ranger with the National Trust, a litter picker in Faringdon, he’s instrumental to the Wilderness project. He does this work freely, with complete dedication and enthusiasm. Mark also gives his time to the vaccination centre and to other local causes.
Pam De Wit – for her leadership of the Earth & Faith Group. Among the outcomes were a major tree planting initiative about three years ago, two very successful plant giveaways and the borders in the Southampton Street car park have been replanted and are a pleasure to see.
