Message from Road Management Services:
We are planning essential maintenance at A419/A417 – A420 Junction. These works will affect the junction roundabout only. The A419/A417 shall operate as usual outside of the A420 Junction.

Our work will provide a safer and smoother journey for road users.
What work is being carried out?
The work being delivered is essential maintenance to the north and south bridge structure at the A420 junction roundabout. This involves replacing the bridge joints and waterproofing repairs. Additionally, essential surfacing work will be completed during the weekend closures.
When and where will the work be carried out? (Traffic restrictions – check before you
travel)
There will be closures on the following dates:
* Weeknight closure: Wednesday 2nd October from 20:00 to Thursday 3rd Thursday 06:00.
* Full weekend closure: Friday 4th October from 20:00 to Monday 7th October 06:00.
* Weeknight closure: Thursday 10th October from 20:00 to Friday 11th October 06:00.
* Full weekend closure: Friday 11th October from 20:00 to Monday 14th October 06:00.
* Weeknight closure: Monday 14th October from 20:00 to Thursday 17th October 06:00.
Please note that the A419/A417 will be fully operational as usual outside of the specified hours. Diversion routes will be signed, and signage will also be in place before the start of works as a reminder.
Noise disruption
Due to the nature of the work we are carrying out there will be times when the work will cause some noise disruption. Every effort will be made to keep the noise to a minimum and we will plan the work to take place at times which will cause least disruption, but please note that this will not always be possible.
Diversion routes
The proposed diversion routes for the closure are outlined below. Maps are also attached to this letter to indicate the route.
A419/A417 Northbound Diversion – A420 Junction
Traffic to exit the A419 at the A420 Junction and head towards the Merlin Way Roundabout, where it will be directed to take the 2nd exit towards the A420 White Hart Roundabout. At the A420 White Hart Roundabout, traffic will be directed to take the 2nd exit to rejoin the A419 Northbound Carriageway via the entry slip road.
A419/A417 Southbound Diversion – A420 Junction
Traffic to exit the A419 at the A420 Junction and head towards the A420 White Hart Roundabout, where it will be directed to take the 2nd exit to rejoin the A419 Southbound Carriageway via the entry slip road.
