Temporary Road Closure at – Faringdon, Park Road

Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice – S14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Road Closure at – Faringdon, Park Road

In the interests of public safety; it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close the road as detailed above in order to facilitate carriageway repair works.

A temporary Notice is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from 29/10/2021.

The anticipated completion date is 03/11/2021 (5 nights closure and each night from 20:00hrs to 06:0hrs).

A Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice is being made to implement the temporary closure and restriction and will operate on the days shown above.

Please note that Notices for urgent works can last up to 5 consecutive days only.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor.

A copy of the drawing showing the extent of the closure and also the alternative routes for traffic is attached.

Further information regarding the works may be obtained by contacting Oxfordshire County Council on 0345 310 11 11.

White Hart junction roundabout reconstruction

Major reconstruction work will start at White Hart roundabout on 16 August 2021 to increase the life expectancy of the road.

The additional work, which is expected to last an estimated 12 weeks, will involve digging down almost a metre beneath the surface to build a new structure for the road base.

The nature of the work means it will not be safe to keep the roundabout open to through traffic. Access will be maintained for emergency services only and diversions will be in place for all other road users.

We anticipate motorists will be able to use the new roundabout by November 2021.

Traffic will still be able to use the junction to leave the A419 southbound to join the A420 eastbound, or to leave the A420 westbound to join the A419 southbound only. A map of the diversionary route can be viewed below:

Temporary Road Closure, Faringdon-Carriageway Maintenance

I am writing to inform you that Oxfordshire County Council will be undertaking carriageway
maintenance work on Park Road between the A420 roundabout and Marlborough Street.
The works are programmed to start on Monday 2nd August 2021 and are expected to last for up to 3 weeks, subject to any bad weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances arising during construction.
The works will include replacing damaged road signs, traffic bollards and ironwork, resurfacing of the existing carriageway and the replacement of road markings.

Traffic Management

To enable these activities to be carried out safely the work will be done in the following phases:

Phase 1: Monday 2nd August to Wednesday 4th August, 20:00 to 06:00hrs – temporary
traffic signals to enable preparation work to be carried out, including replacing damaged
road signs, traffic bollards and ironwork.

Phase 2: Monday 9th August to Friday 20th August, 20:00 to 06:00hrs – full road closure
to enable the resurfacing work to be carried out and replacement of road markings. A
signed diversion route will be put in place during this period.

Park Road will be reopened to traffic when safe to do so outside of these periods.
Staff will be positioned at either end of the closure to direct traffic and pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce.

We ask that you give them your full support whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist.
Every effort will be made to accommodate vehicular access to properties and businesses within and adjacent to the works, but this may be subject to some delay depending on the activities being carried out on site.

Again, I ask for your support during these periods.

We have consulted with Vale of White Horse District Council’s Environmental department
regarding carrying out these works at night. As part of this consultation the noisier operations,
i.e. removing the existing carriageway and breaking out, will cease by 11pm. Unfortunately, the remaining operations are not completely silent, but the site team will be briefed to complete the work with as little disruption and as quietly as practicably possible.

Keeping You Informed

Several methods of communication are being used to keep you informed of these works:
Signs are being placed on site to forewarn road users in advance of the works. A maintenance information website, which will be updated should any changes occur:
www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/roadworks/road-maintenanceinformation

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. However, we will do our utmost to
complete this work as safely and as quickly as possible.

Yours faithfully,
Andrew Madigan
Principal Engineer – Structural Maintenance
